Morgane Nicol is a French artist working in the field of dance, performance and choreography. She is currently based in Copenhagen (Denmark) after having lived 6 years in Stockholm (Sweden). She is primarily interested in the idea of re-negotiating pre-existing expectations and opinions about contemporary dance. Indeed, she believes that the art of dance can benefit from a theoretical platform to develop from without the performance in itself being (over) loaded by theoretical language. Interdisciplinarity, collaboration, poetry and seeing dance as a common good are drivers for her artistic process. She is not so interested in creating a movement language of her own, but likes to shape and reuse existing idioms in a different context so that new ideas emerge. She occasionally likes to mix entertainment, popular culture and contemporary aesthetics. By doing that, she also wants to meet different kinds of audience. As a performer, she always tries to question and redraw her relationship with the audience by creating a room for observation and emotion as well as reflection in the works.

After obtaining a diploma in contemporary dance at the Paris Conservatory, she continues her training at the Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School. A year later, she leaves for Stockholm where she studies at DOCH in the "Bachelor in Dance Performance" which she graduated from in June 2019. She is fascinated by the potential of dance to be a collective art for personal expression. As a freelance artist, she practices, creates and explores dance and choreography in form of performances, texts, workshops and organizational works.

In parallel to her dance training, Morgane did an education in Massage therapy. She is on one hand interested in how massages can be used in dance with a therapeutic sense, to soothe tension and work with injuries. And on the other hand to use this form of healing technique in her artistic work to enhance the awareness of the body, to re-pattern and create connections « from within ».

Morgane’s own works have been performed in France and Sweden, and she has taken part in various creations and performances in both countries.

In 2023, she created her own company, Nebulosa, and is currently working on her first duet "Nita"

Recently, Morgane has been performing and working for Ellen Söderhult, Cristina Caprioli and Ludvig Daae. Since 2019 Morgane has collaborated with Shiraz Amar and they co-created the piece "Breath of the Wild" which has been touring in Europe. Previously, Morgane has worked as a performer with choreographers such as Daniel Larrieu, Thomas Lebrun, Dominique Bagouet (Les Carnets Bagouet), Odile Duboc, Eleanor Bauer, Stina Nyberg, Heine Avdal, Yukiko Shinozaki , Vanessa Virta, and Thomas Hauert.
