GROV (Rough)
Ellen Söderhult

A dance about the unbearable bittersweetness of love unfolds through asmr sounds, strobes, swoosh jumps and bodily states. In a landscape of sound and light, rugged, rough and smooth electroacoustic music meets the sounds of clay, wood and monstrous sound effects. The work takes on the concepts of consistency and texture in the form of a kind of sound effect dance that investigates how sound and movement can be touched by eyes and ears.

ROUGH is a performance about the monstrous feelings of sweet bitter love. It is wrestling with the differences between what it feels like and what it looks like. For example something that looks still but feels like a storm, or something that feels massive but looks light. It is about mismatches between surfaces and insides, as well as about trying to touch the texture of the sound and the movement with the ears and the eyes.
