Trees
Cristina Caprioli

TREES is a dancing make-believe forest. A fairy-tale to fall in owe with. A dance for you to share. When you step into the forest, you are blinded by the shimmering trees. Then, you are approached by some figures, which slinger their arms and legs around yours. You follow your mood and shadow them as they shadow you. And off you go, all of you are limping and crawling, tripping on your toes, rolling over the floor, then you pile up in a heap, spread afar, spin, jump and run. Finally, you all lay down quiet and rest for a while. Carefully, one move after the next, you dance a choreography round and about yourselves and each other.

TREES welcomes attentive participation in the making of a choreography, performed by visitors, dancers, music, shadows and trees all tuning each other in, by the most sensible leading and responding moves, whereby dancing turns into a way of partaking and sharing. An interactive installation and a collective event performed for, with and by smaller groups of visitors at the time, with the assistance of professional dancers. TREES address audiences from four years onward, no matter condition. No previous dance knowledge is required. TREES may be enjoyed as a (still) visual installation.

TREES premiered Spring 2011 in Stockholm. Since then, it has been performed during longer, and recurring periods in Stockholm, as well as in Växjö, Alby, Motala, Farsta, Florens och New York. Up until 2020, TREES has been performed 490 times for pre-, primary- and special schools as well as for young and adults of all ages. Spring 2022 TREES is onve again performed in the Hall, for/with seniors, pre schools and special schools.
