Waving is a performance where light, sound and dance constantly interact with each other. By materializing and being materialized by a large plastic surface, the four performers on stage together with light and sound, form an ever shifting and transforming organism. They shape an entity in continuous motion, proposing poetical landscapes and wavy images.
A landscape of bodies, sounds, and lights communicating, interfering and becoming an organism that continuously grows and falls apart. The 4 performers are surrounded by waves and organically connect to each other and the space through listening and breathing. Sharp yet profoundly calm lightwaves are entering the dark space. A large plastic surface materializes an ocean of crossing red and blue pulses. The intensity of the waves grows bigger and bigger, charging the space as it moves.
A calm desert-like landscape appears. The performers find a common breath that slowly expands and transforms until a collected entity emerges. The particles of the entity constantly shift, take new forms, spread, send, fall and resist. The poetic shifts in dynamics and intensities hold space for different images to appear.
Waving was created through a collaboration between StDH (Stockholms dramatiska högskola) and DOCH
(Dans-och cirkushögskolan) as a way of working with light, sound and dance as mediums for making a performance. The different mediums in Waving aim to be woven together by continuously being in dialog with each other - always dependent on each others voices. Together they want to emphasize the importance of creating space for interpretation, feeling an association as well as allowing space for the audience to drift.
